A bracelet of Snowflake Obsidian

I've completed another custom order and I must admit, I really love custom orders!  I whipped this bracelet up this week after a friend of mine requested that I make a bracelet for the "team mother" of her sons' football team.

I didn't have much time to work on it, as she needed it by Saturday, so polymer clay beads were out of the question.  When discussing the style, my friend explained to me that it would be great if I could create the bracelet in the team colors- red and black.  (The most excellent of ideas in celebration of a great season.)

With no red beads to be found in my stash, I journeyed to the bead store on Tuesday evening. The design of the bracelet is mostly inspired by the materials that I found, which made for a very enjoyable experience.

Snowflake obsidian, a naturally occurring volcanic glass, is paired with clusters of carnelian rondelles hand wrapped in .925 sterling silver filled wire. Teardrops of black lace agate accent the toggle clasp closure.

The deep carnelian stone contrasts so well against the black of the obsidian and the flecks of "snowflake" crystals add the perfect amount of visual interest.  I'm very pleased with the finished result and I hope its new owner will be, as well.

Awesome and classy. So much better than the typical cheesy sports bracelet.

Thank you ladies! I apologize- I just realized that I never thanked you for the comments : )

Mel- I love those boxes too! I made them with a stamp that I carved, which is now headless after Heidi bit it off :/ haha. I'll have to work on another as I'm basically out of boxes.

Ryann- Thanks for the compliments. I agree- much better than an obvious sports bracelet. I loved the idea of using the team colors as a reference to her children's team.
